Every Monday we will be bringing you an unsigned singer or band as part of our Independent Music Monday feature. This week, we caught up with Meltybrains? find out more about them…
Who is in the band, how did you meet, where are you from and how did you come up with the band name?
The band consists of Bennis, Pablo, Carl, Miguel, Robert, Brian, David and Cindy. We met playing on a football team. We're technically from outer space. With the band name it was actually more of a condition. We diagnosed ourselves.
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
Growing up we were heavenly influenced by Noel Edmonds and Blobby, Rosie and Jim and The Morbegs. Nowadaze our influences consists of IASIP, ATCQ, QWERTY and FGHJKL Rowling.
How would you describe your sound?
Depends on which sound you're referring to. We find them viscous one day and hard to expel the next. It depends on what we consume. Right now I would describe it as windy lumps.
What is your latest single called and what was the influence behind it?
Our latest single is called "Sensitivity". It was influenced by some sensitive guy we know called Donnacha. We wrote the song from his perspective in the hope that he would get it together.
What’s your local music scene like?
Great. Full of wine and various vape flavors. Girl Band are there. They're like a lifejacket.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months? Any albums or festivals?
We're going to continue with the construction of our Rocket. We never really intended to be here. Apart from that, Pablo and Adam are engaged to be married. In terms of festivals, we're doing a stand up set at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival in June. In terms of ablums, we're all eternally working on solo and Christmas ablums at present forever.
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
Steven Spielberg, Jurgen Klopp and Girl Band (please lads if you're reading this, please).
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
No not much fun. One time Bennis got electrocuted during a gig in Cork and we thought that he was just getting extremely into it. Also, we often see ghosts on stage. It can be scary up there.
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about your band/duo?
That we would like them to listen to our music please. We would also like them to know that stay in school.
