Every Monday we will be bringing you an unsigned singer or band as part of our Independent Music Monday feature. This week, we caught up with Pat Lagoon to find out more…

Where are you from and how did you first get into music?
I'm a rapper from a county called Waterford.
I was always mad into music but never thought I'd actually make my own until I saw someone rap and thought I could do that and probably better.

Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
When I was growing up it was definitely Eminem, Michael Jackson, 50 Cent and some people here and there from the charts.
My influences now are Joey Badass, Rejjie Snow, Tyler the Creator and Nav... they're all just unique characters to be fair and put out quality music.

How would you describe your sound?
I'd say right now my sound is wavy, it's just a vibe and something that sticks in your head, like you'll definitely be saying my hooks randomly during the day or night.

What is your latest single called and what was the influence behind it?
Love Bites, I was just feeling some type of way and was in a deep convo with my friend around 7 in the morning... I wasn't really thinking I was just taking the conversation very seriously and whatever I gathered from it just got put in the song.

What’s your local music scene like?
It's really growing I can't deny that... We just have to see where it's going to lead to.

What do you have planned for the next 12 months? Any albums or festivals?
I'm just gonna drop big singles with artists I'm f***ing with on the scene and if all goes to plan hopefully get a few shows under my belt and a festival.

Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
There's a good few I'd like to collaborate with, there is a lot of styles to work with in our music scene at the moment.

What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
I'm always a vibe first kind of artist, I shape my lyrics around the beat or the energy that is put in, I always try to produce concise and catchy music but with a deep meaning or relatable issue.
