Every Monday we will be bringing you an unsigned singer or band as part of our Independent Music Monday feature. This week, we caught up with Cameron Sanderson to find out more…
Where are you from and how did you first get into music?
I was born in Enfield, North London and I am currently living in Essex. I have been into music from a very young age, my parents and family and have always been involved in music and have grown up in an environment where music is always playing.
Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
Linkin Park - saw them at Reading Festival when 5, Michael Jackson and grew up in the Pop Punk era. My current influences, Post Malone, John Mayer, Jon Bellion.
How would you describe your sound?
Dark, alternative singer/songwriter pop that gels together rock, electronica, with r&b influence.
What is your latest single called and what was the influence behind it?
'Hold' - 'Hold' is addressing that ghost who just won't leave you alone at night, the darker parts in your head that keep it spinning, that person who is terribly toxic, yet you still let them hold on... however you interpret this track, it's set to resonate in your mind as well as through speakers, weaving together it's ear worm melodies with it's earth rattling bass.
What’s your local music scene like?
Closest local area is Harlow which recently lost the Square which had hosted some great acts before they were big, it was the main music hub for the younger generation in that area. Most of the gigs I go to are in London / Cambridge.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months? Any albums or festivals?
Releasing singles Love/Hate (Bare) a stripped back version of my single released in 2017 out Fri January 11, with another stripped back version of single 'Backstory' out on Fri January 18.
To tie in with this, I have an acoustic / intimate gig on January 19, 2018 in London UK at The Canvas Cafe

I have a full live gig yet to be announced shortly in London end of March 19 which will tie in with my 9th EP release.
Plus more EPs already written and ready for future release.
Continue to work with my cousin Principle Violin for West End show Les Miserables, Jonathan Hill @hillfetz on writing film / TV music.
Looking at potential gigs this year in Germany where I have a good following. I intend to take my music worldwide and more. With work ethic and immense amounts of passion the results will come.
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
Recently collaborated with American rapper Enkay47 on my single 'Energy'. I'm always looking out / listening for talented artists to work with! If I could, collaborating with Marshmello would be absolutely golden.
Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
Not a live performance, but on recording a YouTube video performing guitar and singing in the sea in Italy I was using my Mum's new Android phone to display the lyrics I was singing and as recording it fell into the sea... I lived to tell this tale... just.
I do have the tragic moment on video but have never released it!
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
I am always happy to say hello to fans so just come and say hi if you see me on your travels!!
