Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with unsigned UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with unsigned London duo HUX to find out more…

Who is in the duo, how did you meet, where are you from and how did you come up with the name?
Duo is Pat Keating and George Huxtable, started jamming together at high school in the U.K. Pat is a London boy and George grew up near Melbourne in Aus. The name HUX comes from George’s nickname and it just kinda seemed to work!

Who were your musical influences when you were growing up and who are your influences now?
Influences growing up/now include: John Mayer, Fleetwood Mac, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Matt Corby, the 1975, James Bay, Norah Jones, John Butler, Alabama Shakes.

How would you describe your sound?
Our sound falls somewhere in between pop/rock/singer songwriter/surf/acoustic.

What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
Latest release was ‘When You Go’ and came from the idea of preparing to move on from the end of a friendship or relationship, in full honesty and open mindedness. Tryna get to a place where you can want the best for the other person.

What’s your local music scene like?
Local scene is London, it’s great.

What do you have planned for the next 12 months? Any albums or festivals?
Next 12 months; a few festivals including Boardmasters in August, ‘competing’ in the final round of a comp that would see us opening for Ed Sheeran on his last show of the divide tour, studio dates, songwriting sessions, gigs, Greece for a week to play for a club out there.

Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
Would love to collaborate with any of the people we mentioned above would be a dream, Kacey Musgraves would be huge, her voice is rad.

Any funny stories surrounding your live performances?
Funny stuff always happens everywhere we go.

What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
Readers should know that we’re expanding, building our sound, and everyone’s welcome to the party.
