Every Monday we will be bringing you interviews with unsigned UK or Ireland artists for Independent Music Monday. Recently we caught up with unsigned Dublin band Odd Morris to find out more…
Who is in the band, how did you meet, where are you from and how did you come up with the band name?
There are four of us in the band, Daragh, Kris, Mac and Sam. We all went to the same school so that’s how we got to know each other, nothing crazy. Our maths book was written by a guy called O.D. Morris, so that’s where the name came from.
How would you describe your sound?
The sound of seeing someone you haven’t seen for ages.
What is your latest release called and what was the influence behind it?
Our latest release is called ‘Your Four Walls’, the music was written in our rehearsal room and the lyrics came about through a poem Daragh had written about a building across the street from his old flat.
What’s your local music scene like?
At the moment it’s very very strong. A lot of very talented people doing their own thing. Kojaque’s latest track is absolutely class.
What do you have planned for the next 12 months?
We’re going on tour in March (Covid-permitting), aside from that we’ll just keep writing and recording. It’s uncertain times for everyone at the minute and unfortunately the music industry is no exception. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?
Junior Brother x Odd Morris would definitely be an interesting one.
What is the one thing that you want readers to know about you?
Tickets to our tour are available through our website, www.oddmorris.com.
See you out there.
